Our History
2007 - Learning the business
After graduating from university, founder Gregory Jacobson began his career in the diamond industry. He travelled to Antwerp, Belgium, to study and work with a large De Beers Sightholder, sharpening his knowledge of diamonds, manufacturing, and global distribution.
2008 - Canada Calling
Greg returned to Canada to join his family’s diamond business, working in wholesale and selling to jewellery stores across North America.
2017 - Jacob Mercari is Born
Greg launched Jacob Mercari to cater to Canada's retail diamond and jewellery market. Today, we aim to create meticulously crafted jewellery pieces and share our passion with our customers.

Gregory Jacobson is the President & CEO of Jacob Mercari and brings over 18 years of experience in the diamond and jewellery industry.
Known for his approachable style and deep industry knowledge, Greg is passionate about helping customers feel confident, informed, and excited about their jewellery purchases. Whether you are choosing an engagement ring, a diamond, a gemstone, or a custom piece, his goal is to make the experience clear, relaxed, and enjoyable from start to finish.
Early in his career, Greg spent time overseas learning the industry from the ground up, including diamond and jewellery manufacturing, global sales, sourcing, and distribution. This hands-on experience gives him a unique understanding of quality, craftsmanship, and value.
